<\/a>We are excited to announce that Brian Hight\u2019s first book of poetry will be published at the end of September 2026.<\/p>\nBreaking Out<\/strong> is Brian\u2019s poetic journey of discovery.<\/p>\n For most of his life, Brian believed he simply couldn\u2019t write poetry. Poetry belonged to other people \u2014 people who had a gift for words, an ability to express feelings and ideas in ways that he could never manage.<\/p>\n But eventually he discovered something unexpected.<\/p>\n It wasn\u2019t that he couldn\u2019t write poetry. He had simply convinced himself that he couldn\u2019t.<\/strong><\/p>\n The barrier was in his mind.<\/p>\n Once that barrier began to break down, the words started to come.<\/p>\n What began almost accidentally became a journey into a form of writing Brian had spent much of his life avoiding.<\/p>\n Poetry gave him a different way to explore thoughts, experiences, questions and emotions. Sometimes the words came easily. Sometimes they surprised him. And sometimes a poem revealed something he hadn’t realised he was thinking or feeling.<\/p>\n Breaking Out<\/strong> brings together poems written along that journey.<\/p>\n They don’t follow a single theme or tell one continuous story. Instead, they reflect the different places that life takes us \u2014 love, faith, relationships, memories, emotions, doubt, discovery, ageing, joy, struggle and the questions that continue to shape who we are.<\/p>\n Some poems are thoughtful.<\/p>\n Some are playful.<\/p>\n Some are deeply personal.<\/p>\n And some may simply make you stop and think.<\/p>\n Writing poetry changed the way Brian looked at the ordinary.<\/p>\n A thought that might once have passed unnoticed could become a poem. A memory could take on new meaning. An experience could be turned over and looked at from another angle.<\/p>\n Perhaps that is one of the gifts of poetry.<\/p>\n It slows us down.<\/p>\n It invites us to look again.<\/p>\n And sometimes, in finding the words to describe something, we discover something about ourselves.<\/p>\n The title Breaking Out<\/strong> has a meaning beyond poetry.<\/p>\n It is about breaking out of the boxes we create for ourselves \u2014 the assumptions about what we can and cannot do, who we are, and what is possible.<\/p>\n For Brian, one of those boxes was the belief that he couldn’t write poetry.<\/p>\n Breaking out of it opened a door he never expected to walk through.<\/p>\n This book is the result.<\/p>\n Poetry doesn’t always tell you what to think.<\/p>\n It can leave space for you to bring your own experiences, memories and emotions to the words.<\/p>\n A poem that means one thing to its author may mean something completely different to the person reading it.<\/p>\n That’s part of the joy of poetry.<\/p>\n Breaking Out<\/strong> invites you to come on the journey \u2014 to read the poems, pause over the words, and perhaps discover something of yourself along the way.<\/p>\n Brian Hight\u2019s first collection of poetry<\/strong><\/p>\n Published September 2026<\/em><\/p>\n [Discover Breaking Out]<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Coming Soon!
