In Christ

One isn’t born again when they believe Jesus died for their sins and rose again. Even though this is what most churches teach, it is not found in the scriptures.
What the scriptures actually teach is that in Adam all died and in Christ all are Made Alive. The phrase ” in Christ ” gives most people a lot of trouble. They think they have to do something to get ” in Christ. ” They think it has to do with either believing or making a choice. However the same people don’t believe they had to make a choice or believe in Adam to be “in Adam” in the first place. They fail to see the inconsistency in their thinking.
So most Christians lump being born again, being ” in Christ” and being saved into one experience. They think that when they believe, or actually when they choose, they are simultaneously born again, placed ” in Christ ” and being saved.
The truth is, everyone was already in Christ on the cross. He drew us all unto Himself when he was crucified. He died for all of us and as all of us. Therefore we were already “in Him. If this isn’t true then He didn’t die for all.
So our old man was crucified with Him. Our old man is the one that Jesus never knew. He was the man of sin. He was the goat and not the sheep. He was the one whose name was not found written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
This is why we don’t look at anyone after the flesh. That means believers and those that don’t yet believe. We look at everyone after the spirit, which is the New Creation in Christ.
The scripture says that we were born again by the resurrection of Christ from the dead. It wasn’t by the prayer that we said. It wasn’t by some choice that we made. Our new birth wasn’t even because we believed. It was because Jesus died and rose again and we were included ” in Him ” when He died for all.
We are told quite a few times that Jesus is the savior of the world. He doesn’t need our help for this. He has done all that was necessary for our salvation. However, it isn’t until we trust Jesus, that we begin to knowingly experience this salvation.
It is like having a million dollars in the bank and not knowing it until someone tells you. Even then you won’t write a check until you actually believe that it’s in your account. In the same way, salvation already belongs to all of us but we won’t really enjoy it much until we trust that it’s true.
There is much more that I could say about this but then this would be too long to read. So just know this. God loves all unconditionally. Jesus is the savior of all. The Holy Spirit is in all of us.
OUR AWESOME PAPA, help us not to attach our works to your salvation, getting the cart before the horse. Thank you that we have been created to do good works that you’ve already prepared for us to do and you empower us for all of them. You are our strength.
Grace and peace. Amen.
